Martin Mills is a senior capital markets professional with 35 years of experience. In early 2018 Martin founded his own independent Sustainable Finance Consultancy, Martin Mills Consultants Ltd (“MMC”)

Previously, Martin spent 18 years as a Managing Director in the Debt Capital Markets practice at Bank of America in London. Before joining BofA, Martin spent five years in the FIG team at Moody’s in London and New York where he was responsible for rating a wide range of financial institutions

At BofA, Martin was Head of EMEA Green Bonds, making it one of the leading practices in this fast growing market. In this capacity Martin structured and led numerous innovative and successful Green, Social and Sustainability Bond issues for clients across a wide range of sectors.

The company has a particular focus on Capacity Building, helping to grow sustainable finance markets through consultancy, training and wide ranging engagement with market participants.  Martin has designed, led and participated in sustainable finance training courses throughout the world with a particular focus on Emerging Markets.  Clients and partners have included EBRD, IFC, EIB, PWC, Stockholm School of Economics and the International Capital Markets Association (ICMA).  He is a Senior Climate Finance Consultant to The International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group.  He was also a member of the City of London Green Finance Initiative.  MMC now enjoys Observer status within the ICMA-led Green Bond Principles decision making forum, placing the company at the heart of governance developments within the market.

During his time at BofA, Martin led the bank’s EMEA Product Solutions Group and also established the leading Ratings Advisory Practice for Financial Institutions. Martin has advised many of the leading banks, insurers and asset managers in EMEA and beyond on a wide range of rating related issues from how to get a rating through demutualisations, M&A and complex hybrid capital financings.

Martin holds a MBA from London Business School.  He is a fluent French and Italian speaker.
